What is obscure glass and why would people want it?
Obscure glass, as the name implies, is hard to see through because it has a pattern or treatment to make it obscure. GLASS WORLD has several very attractive types of obscure glass that we can be offer you. Obscure glass will spare both the person showering and the person who unwittingly barges into the bathroom from embarrassment.
What kind of glass is used? Is it safe?
Frameless shower enclosures are made of 3/8” thick tempered (i.e. safety) glass. Tempered glass is between 4-6 times stronger than non-tempered, or annealed, glass. Most importantly, when tempered glass does break, it shatters into a million tiny pieces instead of the long Saracen sword-like shards attendant with annealed glass breakage.
Additionally, when we send your shower enclosure diagram to the big glass factory that fabricates the custom panels that will make up your shower enclosure, the diagram is run through a computer program to insure the safety of the design. We are required every once in awhile to make alterations in either the design or in the hardware to insure the enclosure’s safety.
How tall should I make my shower enclosure?
We usually suggest to have it come up to where the pipe for the showerhead comes out of the wall.
Do you supply and install framed showers? If so, where do you recommend them?
Yes. We often recommend them over tubs.
How should I clean my shower glass?
If you clean it frequently, regular glass cleaner is sufficient. We have also found Soft Scrub for tougher stains and soap scum build up. Denatured alcohol, which can be purchased at your local Home Depot, is also an excellent product that will make your shower glass squeaky clean.
